A short, easy hike that you can do in the afternoon starts right at the Hotel Patria. Your destination will be the Mengusovská Valley, which is very popular among tourists, so be prepared that you will probably not enjoy it alone. However, the valley is one of the largest and most beautiful valleys on the southern side of the High Tatras, so it is definitely worth visiting. After arriving at the beautiful Popradské pleso, continue around the lake towards the turnoff below Ostrvoú and then along the eastern shore to the Symbolic Cemetery, which is the only one of its kind in the High Tatras. In addition to monuments to the victims of the mountains (Tatra and foreign mountains), you will find hand-carved and decorated crosses from Detva. After walking through the Symbolic Cemetery, take the asphalt road back towards Popradské pleso until you come to the crossroads of the trail leading to Štrbské Pleso and then back to the hotel.
