Under the auspices of the Tatras without barriers project, several asphalt or paved marked routes have been created, thanks to which families with children in strollers or visitors on wheelchairs can enjoy the Tatras. Choose from the easy routes, thanks to which you can get to know the beauty of the High Tatras even if you have limited mobility.

Tichá Valley in Oravice

You can reach the forest path, which is also a barrier-free hiking trail, about 200 m from the central parking lot in Oravice. The difficulty of the route is not high, but an escort is recommended for people in wheelchairs. You can reach the furnace by following the red sign.

Bobrovecká valley

The valley was created by glacial activity and is known for the natural occurrence of thermal springs. Along the way, you can come across the preserved foundations of lime kilns, in which lime from the surrounding limestones was burned in the past. You can reach the destination by following the blue sign.

Roháčska valley

An interesting route that offers views of the surrounding hills. The valley is home to typical Tatra animals; chamois, marmots or eagles, which you can spot during the trip if you're lucky. Along the way, you can make a stop at the Orava Village Museum with traditional folk architecture. We recommend taking the route with an escort. You follow the route following the red sign.

Popradské lake

The route starts with a slight climb, so if you are going on the trip in a wheelchair, you need to have an escort with you. However, this climb is only from the start - the rest of the route is gentle. During your trip, you can relax in the built-in rest areas. You can get to the beginning of the route by the Tatra electric railway or by car, which you can leave in the parking lot. You will stick to the blue mark.

Starý Smokovec – Hrebienok – Rainer's cottage
The oldest cottage on the Slovak side of the Tatras – Rainer's cottage, is a popular destination for many tourists. The route through Hrebienok is simple and suitable even for small children. Upon arrival at Rainer's cottage, you can treat yourself to a snack. The cottage is open daily from 09:00 to 16:00. You can reach the cottage by following the red sign.

Tatranská Javorina – Podmuráň


An easy route that is lined with information panels about the area. In the past, as the name implies, it was full of maples, which, however, almost completely disappeared due to human intervention (construction of ironworks, cardboard factories, coal mining).

Bielovodská valley

The name of the route is derived from the stream that borders it – the Bielovodský ( “white-water”) stream is full of white pebbles that form the lining of its bottom. Follow the blue marked route to reach the furnace. The valley is known mainly for its pastoral history - in the 18th century it was an important pastoral area for 5 Goral municipalities.
