Ski alpinism

Beginners should definitely try this sport on the maintained slopes at first. Do not forget that you can move in the maximum distance of 2 metres from the slopes. You can test your abilities for example on these routes:

  • On tourist route from Štrbské Pleso to Mlynická dolina and back.
  • From Hrebienok to Zamkovský’s chalet and Skalnaté pleso – follow the slope down to Tatranská Lomnica.
  • From Tatranská Lomnica follow the slope to Skalnatá chalet and back

Advanced and more skilled ski alpinists can enjoy favourite rides on a fresh, virgin snow in the Tatras. We recommend following routes for the advanced sportsmen:

  • From Zbojnícka chalet through basin of Sivé plesá to Priečne sedlo and from there to Téry’s chalet in Malá Studená dolina
  • From the Téry’s chalet below Mačacia veža to Baranie sedlo and through Veľká Zmrzlá dolina to Chata pri Zelenom plese (Chalet near Green mountain lake)
  • In Mlynická dolina from Skok waterfall to Soliskové sedlo, then from saddleback to the slope from Chata pod Soliskom (Chalet below Solisko)

Whether you decided to “run to start your day” or to practise a sport only for pleasure, Štrbské Pleso and its scenic surrounding will make a great experience of this activity. You can test for physical fitness on an oxygen track of 2.2 km around Štrbské pleso. Fitness track comprises 6 stations. The table on the station advises you to choose an alternative of fitness exercises that suits you most. This marked track is a favourite way to improve the physical fitness of all those who came to the Tatras to practise a sport.
